Shepherd is a member of Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM), an
interfaith collation of some 28-area churches that provides a
community food pantry, social service agency, job bank and resale
store. HAAM serves families in crisis living in Humble, Huffman, Porter, New Caney, Kingwood and Atascocita. It feeds some 3000 people each month, provides job placements, distributes about 1800 back-to-school packets, provides 2000 food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and distributes toys and gifts to some 1100 families at Christmas time. All of this is made possible through donations of food, clothing and household goods, and volunteers.
